The Marimba magazine
rack started with a few pairs of old drumsticks. Using them as one
plane of the rack, the other plane needed to relate both functionally
and visually. Different shapes were experimented with, from a drumhead
to a simple rectangle of wood. The final form and color the solid
plane resembles that of a marimba, thus the name.
The connectors reference
the drumstick tips used to play a marimba. The different parts of
this magazine rack can be separated and packaged flat saving paper
so more magazines can be printed.
